Don Landis’ quest for olives is comparable to a hard-core private investigator searching for clues, answers and eyewitnesses.

His hunt for the largest just-right olives has taken him across the North Bay, staking out trees with full canopies rich with the meaty fruit. At times, he’s knocked on unsuspecting strangers’ doors seeking permission to glean olives from their trees.
